My Favorite Posts

This is a collection of posts that have an emotional impact when I re-read them.
Note: This is not a list of my favorite libraries. All of Vermont’s Libraries are complex micro-universes of knowledge and culture with unique personalities. I refuse to rank them.
Weird Libraries.
Being weird is a privilege.
Library 45: The Hitchcock Museum & Library. Holy Taxidermy.
Library 91: John Woodruff Simpson Memorial Library. A shrine to one person and her stuff.
Library 85: Isle La Motte Free Public Library. A halloween storage facility with some books.
Posts I think about often.
Library 47: Dailey Memorial Library. Why I love taking selfies with taxidermy.
Library 12: Kreitzberg Library. On being a pacifist at a military library.
Library 70: Rand Memorial Library. The people who go to libraries.
Library 22: Haskell Free Library. Knitting in two countries at the same time, with Stuck in Vermont.
Library 111: Baxter Memorial Library. When I read 11 years of library board meeting minutes to uncover a story of a stuffed grebe.
Libraries where a book drove the post.
Library 101: Putney Public Library. The book was “Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut” by Derrick Barnes and illustrated by Gordon C. James.
Library 94: Haston Library. The book was “Rebel Girl” by Kathleen Hanna.
Library 84: Alburgh Public Library. The book was “I Eat Poop: A Dug Beetle Story” by Mark Pett.
Library 105: Starksboro Public Library. The book was “Parable of the Sower” by Octavia Butler.

First and last.
Comparing the first post (Essex Junction #1) and the most recent post (as I update this, it is #142 the Dorset Village Library) gives me nostalgia for the day I started the project. The first post was brief and flat, and did not convey how excited I was about the first stop. My writing has improved, and I hope recent posts better convey the spirit of why I love this project.
