Library 2! Today I visited the Enosburgh Public Library, which was the 2nd library in my quest to read, write, and knit in as many of Vermont’s public libraries as I can during my sabbatical.
I read: Trans Studies in K-12 Education introduction and chapter 1
I wrote: notes on the reading
I knit: a Spirally Sweater in yarn dyed with coreopsis flower by Wing and a Prayer Farm
On this visit, I joined Enosburgh’s knitting hour and chatted with librarians Lisa, Brenda, and Sarah, who taught me multiple interesting facts about this library, including:
This library serves the town, which is EnosburgH, which ends with an H. This is emphasized because the library is in the village, which is Enosburg (no H) Falls. This is a source of confusion.
Their (now) antique wooden card catalog has been repurposed into a seed catalog for local gardeners.
Recently, librarian Brenda’s town garden project was uprooted by a few stray pigs #vermontproblems
The shelves in this library are unique and old. I took 354978 photos of them trying to capture their vibe. They’re best in person, as are most things in libraries.
(My favorite fact) They have a 3D printer which is sometimes used to print small cats that live around the library.
On the way back to my car I walked past a cemetery, a scottish pub, and a bakery called Flower to Flour whose motto is “Together we can bake the difference.”
Thanks for this delightful visit, librarians! It was a pleasure to knit together.
